How to Change Default Language Setting in VLC Media Player

Does your VLC Media Player automatically switch to a different language each time you play a video? That is because there is a default language already set on your VLC Media Player. Even if the video you play is in a different language, the media player picks up the default language and uses it.

VLC Media Player is one of the most widely used multimedia players by many users on Windows 10 PC, Linux, and Mac computers. Android and iOS phone users also enjoy the mobile version of the app. It has a simple interface and is convenient to use. You can also stream and play various media formats on VLC Media Player, including the most “exotic” types.

So, how do you alter the default language of your VLC Media Player? Let’s check out the steps below.

  • Launch your VLC Media Player.
  • Navigate to the Tools menu on Windows PC or access the VLC menu on a macOS device.
  • Select Preference.
  • On the top left corner, click the Interface icon.
  • Go to Language.
  • Beside the Menus language option, click the dropdown menu.
  • Select the language you want to set as default.
  • Click the Save button.
  • Restart your VLC Media Player.

To use a keyboard shortcut to get to the language settings, press the keys CTRL + P to open the Preferences window. Then, follow the rest of the process.
