Great news to sports fanatics as Disney Plus will include the ESPN Hub Tile by the end of the year! Yes, live sports will now be available for streaming on Disney+!
This is in preparation for the launch of the full version of ESPN on Disney Plus, which is expected to happen in the fall of 2025. Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger said that the ESPN Tile will be the first step in bringing ESPN to Disney+ users.
The ESPN Hub tile will feature select live games plus studio programming. However, this is only available to all subscribers in the United States. Disney may broadcast sports content to select countries but they are more focused now in bringing ESPN to Disney Plus.
Last March, the launch of Hulu on Disney+ gave favorable results, hence encouraging the potential sports bundle for users. ESPN standalone on Disney Plus will include all sports channels. There will be added features such as fantasy sports, sports stats, ESPN bet, shopping, and personalized features.
Disney is currently in partnership with Fox Corps and Warner Bros. Discovery in a joint sports venture to integrate live sports events from TNT, ABC, TBS, ESPN and Fox Sports in an app.
