This issue can occur for many different reasons and can result in you not being able to listen to your TV but still being able to see the video feed of your connected device.

Therefore, this will be a troubleshooting guide on how best to go about solving this issue, so that you can go back to watching your favourite shows or movies.

1. Check the Volume or Mute Controls on your Panasonic TV

The first way to diagnose when you are having audio issues is to make sure that your Panasonic TV doesn’t have its volume on 0 or mute. To adjust the volume control, the location of which will differ depending on the TV’s model, however, you should be able to find the volume control buttons on the remote control.

  • Adjust the volume control, usually with the + or – buttons on the TV’s remote.
  • Ensure that the mute button is not pressed. If it is, you should see a mute icon in a corner of the screen.

If this doesn’t solve the issue, then there are a few other things you can try.

2. Check your Connected Device

Another way that this issue can sometimes occur is if the connected device that you are trying to display the video on either has its volume on mute or might have a hardware issue.

  • First, diagnose make sure that the connected device has its audio output set to use the TV’s speakers.
  • How to do this will depend on the device. For instance, if you are having audio issues on a games console, ensure that there are no external audio headsets connected to the TV or console, as this will capture the audio output instead.

To find out how to configure the audio controls for your connected device, refer to your device manufacturer’s information regarding doing this.

3. Check the HDMI Cable on your Connected Device

If the above does not resolve the issue, another way to solve the issue is to check that the HDMI cable that is connected to the device works. HDMI cables carry video and audio feed, and so this is where the issue could be.

  • Try the HDMI cable and HDMI port on other devices to ensure that the problem is not a device-specific issue.
  • If the HDMI cable carries audio on other devices, then this means that the issue is with the TV itself.

In Closing

If none of the above worked in diagnosing why your TV is not producing audio, it may be that your TV’s speakers are damaged. If your TV is under warranty, it is advised to take it to the retailer where you bought it or follow the manufacturer’s instructions to get it professionally looked at.
