One of the possible reasons for the error on your Roku smart TV or media player is miscommunication between your devices. Incompatibility may also pose a threat to your entertainment pleasure.
Check your HDMI Cable and Port for Issues
External issues can be a potential culprit to your problem. If it is causing the error, you might want to check your cable and port. If the cables are worn out, it may create trouble on your device.
Make sure that your HDMI cables are not worn out and dirty. If they are, you can try to replace them with a new one.
As for your HDMI port,you can gently clean it with a cotton swab and alcohol if it is dirty or switch to a different port.
Make Adjustments on your TV’s Picture Size

There are 5 size options to choose from on your Roku TV. Navigate to Settings by pressing the asterisk button. Go to Advanced picture settings and select Picture Size. Now, select from these options: Direct, Auto, Zoom, Normal and Stretch. You may need to see which one works for you.
In some TV models such as Insignia Roku TV, the default setting is Overscan.
Take note that changing the picture size will not automatically apply to all videos. When you switch to another app, it will go back to its default setting.
Try a Different Display Resolution
You can try to switch to different display resolutions and check which one fits your TV needs. To do so, go to the Settings menu and select Display Type. By default, it is set at Auto detect. Try to choose 720p or 1080p.
Clear your Roku TV Cache
Here’s how you can clear your TV cache. Press the Home button first on your remote for 5 times. Then, press the Up button once. Press the Rewind button twice and lastly, press the Fast Forward button 2 times. Restart your Roku smart TV.
Install Available Software Updates
Maybe your Roku TV’s firmware is outdated already. To update it, go to Settings and hit System. Select Software update and install the latest version.
