There is a new bug that kept Roku users up in arms for several days. Whenever they turn on their TV, they are asked to rename the device connected to their HDMI 1 port. Now, it may be tolerable if it happens once and the error goes away. But each time they start up their TV, the prompt automatically appears.

According to Roku, it is indeed an issue they need to fix. It is affecting users who use HDMI 1 when connecting their devices such as cable boxes and gaming consoles.
What if you simply cancel the notification? Users who did cancel the prompt claim that it reappears the next time they turn on their TV. Even if you have different devices connected using a switch, it only identifies a single device.
So, what can you do for now? Roku informed their users to wait for the next update to fix the bug. One possible workaround is to perform a restart on your Roku TV. Head over to the Settings menu and select System. Choose Power and select Restart.
It all seems frustrating to encounter this error on Roku. However, we can all hope and wait for Roku to troubleshoot the issue and give us the fix as soon as possible.
