Fast-paced scenes often create motion blurs on TV, making some shows difficult to watch, especially live sports events. To reduce motion blur, motion smoothing is added on smart TV devices, however, not really as effective as intended.
Roku integrates the Action Smoothing feature on its selected smart TVs but not a lot of users love the idea. It even made matters worse when some users reported that the feature is getting stuck on enabled by default. This happened after installing the updated version of Roku OS 13. What’s more, it affects owners of RoKu TV with TCL models.
Affected users have been posting their issues on Reddit and Roku’s community forums. After the Roku OS 13 update, Action Smoothing is automatically turned on or activated and they do not have any option to turn off the feature.

Fortunately for some users, their devices have “Expert” picture settings, which have the option to turn on or off the action smoothing feature. Still for users with TV devices without the “Expert” settings, they are left with the problem on hand. There are some users who actually just encountered the feature for the first time.
Roku added the new Roku Smart Picture on the Roku OS 13 update. This feature will automatically boost or adjust picture quality on the content even during streaming. It is possible that the bug may have come from the new feature.
Roku officials are yet to release an official statement. We can just hope that a solution will be available soon to all users.
