LG is rolling out an industry-first feature to all its new LG smart TVs. If you don’t like the unnatural effects that you sometimes get out of films and TV series, LG will take it out for you. With the Filmmaker Mode, your LG smart TV will disable added picture processing effects such as image sharpening and motion smoothing. But, it will retain the original aspect of the movie like courts and frame rate.Â
While the Filmmaker Mode has been around on LG smart TVs, LG is making the first move on auto-switching the feature. Your LG Smart TV will now automatically switch to the Filmmaker Mode if it detects supported or compatible content. That means you don’t have to enable the Filmmaker Mode manually. LG will do it for you.
The Filmmaker Mode is a great way to experience watching a cinema title in the way the content creators and movie makers want it to be. It creates a different perspective on how you see the movie. UHD Alliance created the Filmmaker Mode to give viewers a new way to look at the movies and TV shows from the visual viewpoint of content creators. That being said, you will experience it close to its actual theatrical release. This feature is also available on other smart TV devices such as Samsung, VIZIO, Philips, and Panasonic.

How to Enable Auto Switching to Filmmaker Mode with Compatible Amazon Prime Video Content on LG Smart TV
The auto switch on Filmmaker Mode on LG smart TVs is available on select Amazon Prime Video content. You can stream movie and TV show titles on your Prime Video account in Filmmaker Mode, such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Tomorrow War, and other exciting content.
But, please note that you will still have full control over whether to allow the Filmmaker Mode to turn on automatically when you stream a particular title. LG will pop up a notification asking your permission if you confirm or not the Filmmaker Mode. You can always decline it if you want to disable the tool and retain the full effects of the movie.
The Filmmaker Mode feature on Prime Video is compatible with selected LG smart TV models. You can access the ground-breaking feature using any LG 2021 and 2020 smart TV, including 4K, 4K OLED TV, and 8K UHD. Make sure to upgrade your firmware and run your LG smart TV with the latest webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0.1 software.
How to Update LG Smart TV Device Software
- On your LG smart TV remote, press the Home button.
- Go to Settings.
- Navigate to Others.
- Click Software Update.
- If there is an available update, install it.

Hated it too, searched and searched on my LG tv and under the settings (which is the cog on the LG remote)>all settings>picture>advanced settings>turn off auto select filmmaker mode!
