Before you try to troubleshoot your Hopper, check first if the power light is blinking. If it is, it is still in recovery mode. According to DISH, you just have to wait up to 4 hours before your receiver finishes the recovery mode. If it continues to blink after 4 hours, proceed with troubleshooting. If it is not blinking, you can also troubleshoot it.

Tip #1 – Make Sure there is Proper Ventilation

Unfortunately, it is not a great idea to store your DISH Hopper inside a closed cabinet. It needs enough ventilation to operate. Make sure also that there are no other electronic devices within 4 inches of your receiver.

Tip #2 – Check the Cables

Are there loose fittings on your cables or connectors? Do you see tears or signs of damage? These issues can cause a problem with your DISH Hopper. If there is something wrong with the components or cables of your Hopper, you may need to replace it.

Tip #3 – Test the Signal Strength

If the cause of the problem is poor signal, something may be disrupting the signal of your Hopper. Verify first by checking the signal strength. A good signal means that everything is above 60-70% and all must be in green.

Tip #4 – Perform a Reset on your DISH Hopper

  • To perform a reset, unplug the cord of your DISH Hopper, the one with a red tag if applicable.
  • Wait for at least 10 seconds.
  • Now, plug it back directly to an outlet.
  • Wait for at least 5 minutes for the reset to finish.

Tip #5 – Contact DISH Customer Service

You may contact DISH customer support through their phone number, 1-800-333-3474, or chat via https://my.dish.com/support/contact.
