It is all worth it for Disney fans to pay a monthly subscription fee to access their favorite shows and movies. All the classic films and TV shows and series are available in one platform. However, users will soon see a slight change in their streaming subscriptions as Disney+ announced a price hike to its monthly plans starting next year.
How Much is the Disney Plus Price Hike?
According to Disney, the price increase will be at $1 per month in the United States. Disney announced the price hike during its annual Investors Day. Starting on March 26, 2021, the monthly subscription cost of $6.99 will increase to $7.99. For yearly subscriptions, the price increase is from $69.99 to $79.99.
Other subscription plans will be affected by the increase in prices. If you are using the Disney Bundle, expect a $1 increase from $12.99 to $13.99 monthly.
The Reason for Disney+ Subscription Price Increase
Disney said that the price hike would also go with additional content for their users. There will be more than 100 projects to be expected. Disney aims to debut 100 new shows each year. Titles will come from Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, and National Geographic. Users can expect 15 new Disney live-action, 10 Star Wars series, 10 Marvel series, Pixar series, and features, as well as Disney Animation.
The announcement of Disney also comes after Netflix announced its price increase in the US from $13 to $14. Price increases are only limited to US subscribers as of now.
Aside from the added shows and movies, Disney also announced its increase in the number of subscribers since its launch last November 2019. While it predicted 60 to 90 million users by the end of 2024, the streaming service has about 87 million subscribers as of the present. Disney is increasing its forecast in 2024 to reach at least 230 million users all over the world.
