The fact that this blog post exists points to the fact that Kanopy has major bandwidth issues. Mine stops and stutters all the time. Tubi works fine, all the time, BTW. If they aren’t careful, libraries are going start dropping the service.
I agree with Brian… definitely some serious issues with Kanopy. A unique streaming channel of fantastic potential… yet crushingly terrible execution. Six ZILLION titles and I can watch FIVE of them with my particular library’s allowance per month. Jeez Kanopy, cut back on the available titles and invest in some decent servers. Sometimes takes 20 to 30 attempts to connect to the channel itself, then often jerky, stuttering streaming of my selected title. If I stop a film to take a break, it never remembers that subtitles were on… that is if I can even get a particular movie to play in the first place. Seems like more & more titles will simply not start… I’ve been watching Kanopy for several years and it seems as if this problem is increasing. Press PLAY & nothing happens, usually for a title I’d really like to see. There’s so much offered by Kanopy that would be worth viewing and is not available elsewhere. Such a shame this channel is falling short at the technical level for viewers like me enthralled by their content. What’s the solution Kanopy?
