How to Fix Peacock Content Not Available on this Device Playback Error

NBC has its streaming service to offer its users. With Peacock, you can stream some of the well-loved TV shows and series from NBCUniversal, such as The Office, Modern Family, Downton Abbey, and Parks & Recreation. There are also new titles to look forward to coming on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, some users are venting their frustration over the streaming platform because they see the error message, “Content Not Available on This Device” when they stream their favorite TV series on Peacock website or app. It is understandable given the monthly subscription you have to pay if you are a premium subscriber, to watch from the streaming service.


According to some users, most of their experience with the error appears on their browser. It can be on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox browser on a Windows 10, macOS, or Chrome OS Chromebook laptop. The Peacock playback error also appears on the app in streaming devices and media players such as smart TV, iPad tablet, iPhone or Android mobile phone as well as when casting content on an external monitor.

Since most of the situation happens on the browser, one of the first things you can do is try streaming on another browser. If you use Google Chrome browser to watch TV shows and movies on Peacock, you might want to switch to Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge instead.

If the situation remains despite changing to several browsers, you can try streaming on another device or through the Peacock app. You can stream Peacock on your mobile devices or your smart TV if you use your PC or laptop. If you use the browser, try using the Peacock app.

How to Install Peacock App on your Streaming Device

If you don’t have the Peacock app installed on any of your devices, the steps are easy to follow.

  • First, navigate to the Google Play Store for Android devices or the App Store for iOS. You can go to the Store with your smart TV.
  • Next, search for Peacock or enter Peacock on the Search option.
  • Tap or click the Peacock app to open.
  • Tap or click the Get or Install button.
  • After installing, launch the app and sign in to your account.

Stream Peacock Using an Incognito Browser

The problem may be due to some factors in your browser that blocks Peacock from streaming content. You can try to open the Peacock website on an incognito windows of your browser and check if you can stream a video from there. If not, try to log out of your Peacock account and log in again.

Clear your Browser Cache and Cookies

Now, there are some corrupted cache files and cookies that may be interfering and can be a trigger to the issue. Clearing and deleting your browser’s cache and cookie data can help fix this Peacock streaming error.

  • To clear your browser cache, launch the main menu of your browser.
  • Go to Options or Settings.
  • Navigate to History or Privacy and Security.
  • Select Clear Browsing Data or Cookies and Site Data.
  • Set the Time Range to All Time and make sure to check the boxes next to browsing history, cookies, and cache.
  • Click the Clear Data button.
