How to Troubleshoot and Fix Spotify App Crashing Issue on Mobile Device or Windows 10/11 Computer

There are several ways you can try to resolve the crashing or freezing error on your Spotify app. If you cannot identify the cause of the issue, you can follow each of the methods below and check if it works for you.

Restart Spotify App or Restart your Device

One of the first things you can do is exit the Spotify app and relaunch it. Try to evaluate if it continues to crash. If it does, you can close all running apps and turn off your mobile phone or PC. Wait for at least 3 minutes, then reboot your device.

Check for Problems with Spotify

Sometimes, the cause of the not loading issue is with Spotify’s server. You can check their social media status for updates regarding outages of their service. If there is a server problem with Spotify servers, you will have to wait for them to fix it.

Log Out and Log Back In on Spotify

  • On your Spotify app, look for the Gear icon or the Settings menu and select it.
  • Select Log Out.
  • Now, wait for a few moments and click or tap the Log In button.
  • Sign in to your account.

Update your Spotify App

  • If you are using Windows 10 or 11 PC, click the Menu button on Spotify.
  • Select Help.
  • Choose About Spotify.
  • Look for updates and go to the Click here to download next to it.
  • Click the box and download available updates.
  • For mobile devices, launch the App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android.
  • Look for Spotify.
  • Check if there are available updates and tap the Update button.

Clear the Spotify App Cache

  • On your Windows 10 or 11 PC, navigate to your C: Drive.
  • Select Users.
  • Choose your Administrator Name.
  • Go to AppData.
  • Click Local.
  • Look for the Spotify folder and open it.
  • Open the Data folder.
  • Select all the files and delete them.
  • For mobile devices, launch the Spotify app.
  • Navigate to the Home tab.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Choose Storage.
  • Tap Delete Cache.

If you continue to experience the error, you can try to uninstall the Spotify app first on your device. Then, reinstall a new version.

  • For Windows 10 or 11 PC, navigate to the Settings menu.
  • Go to Apps and look for Spotify.
  • Right-click on it and select Uninstall.
  • Now, open the Spotify website and reinstall the app.
  • For Android devices, go to Google Play Store.
  • Select Manage apps & devices.
  • Tap Installed.
  • Look for Spotify and tap the Trash icon next to it.
  • Go back to the homepage of the Google Play Store.
  • Look for Spotify and tap Install.
  • If you are using an iPhone, open the Settings menu.
  • Go to General.
  • Select iPhone Storage.
  • Choose Spotify.
  • Tap Delete App.
  • Go to the App Store and look for Spotify.
  • Tap the Install button.
