To get you on board, Smart Shuffle is another option to the normal shuffle feature. Not only will it shuffle the songs you are listening to, it adds recommendations that it thinks are also worth your time.
However, continued smart shuffling does not result in a smart way of streaming. In fact, it becomes too predictable and no longer as exhilarating from the first time you tried it. Recommendations are not as fresh as they should be given the millions of songs available for you to discover. Plus, you hear the same songs recommended despite the playlist.
Switching to the normal shuffle will only give you songs from your own playlist, which is truly effective and fine. But, what about the goal of music discovery set by Smart Shuffle in the first place? Just tap the shuffle icon once if you want to use the standard shuffle on Spotify.
Can you Turn It Off or Permanently Disable the Feature?
The great news now is that you can disable smart shuffle on Spotify if you don’t like it at all. How to do it? Head over to your Settings menu and select Playback. Look for ‘Enable All Play Modes’ or ‘Include Smart Shuffle in play modes’ and toggle the button to off. It will automatically disable the shuffle on your Spotify.
If you can’t find Smart Shuffle on Playback, try looking for it under Listening Controls on your Settings.
