The holidays are right around the corner, which means it’s almost time for Hallmark Channel’s annual Countdown to Christmas for 2023.
This year’s lineup features over 30 new original Christmas movies and holiday films premiering every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from late October through December.
As a lover of feel-good holiday stories, I’m excited to highlight some of the upcoming titles and share why I think they’ll make perfect viewing while curled up with hot cocoa this season.
Complete List of Movies to Stream with Countdown to Christmas 2023 on Hallmark Channel
Below is the full list of new Christmas movies you can watch and stream on the Hallmark Channel with its Countdown to Christmas 2023 program:
#1 Checkin’ It Twice
Premiering Friday, October 20
Starring Kim Matula and Kevin McGarry, this movie follows a hockey player who falls for a real estate agent when he gets traded to her hometown.
The synopsis reveals that the protagonist takes up residence in a cottage located on the property of a family who are devoted hockey enthusiasts. This scenario appears to put an entertaining spin on the classic “fish out of water” plotline, with the main character having to adjust to the unfamiliar territory of living amidst ardent hockey fans.
As a sports fan, I love when Hallmark adds that element into a romance plotline. And the charming small-town setting filled with Christmas spirit is sure to get you excited for the holidays.
#2 Where Are You, Christmas?
Premiering Saturday, October 21
If you’re looking for a movie with a more fantastical premise, Where Are You, Christmas? may be for you. When a character played by Lyndsy Fonseca makes a wish for a year without Christmas, she wakes up in a black-and-white world. To restore the holiday, she’ll have to team up with a local mechanic played by Michael Rady.
With a cast that includes veterans of Hallmark and other family-friendly entertainment, this movie promises humor, heartwarming moments, and a magical message about the true meaning of Christmas.
#3 Under the Christmas Sky
Premiering Sunday, October 22
Jessica Parker Kennedy and Ryan Paevey star in this romantic drama about an astrophysicist whose dreams of space travel are put on hold after an accident. While recovering, she volunteers at a planetarium and is paired with a pragmatic co-worker to prepare a new exhibit.
Because I was fascinated by astronomy and space exploration, I’m excited to see those themes incorporated into a holiday love story. And with two charismatic leads, I’m sure the chemistry will be electric. After some emotional turmoil, I hope the characters find hope and happiness under the Christmas sky.
#4 Christmas by Design
Premiering Friday, October 27
For all the aspiring designers and Project Runway fans, Christmas by Design sounds like a festive treat. With Rebecca Dalton as a fashion designer who enters a holiday-themed challenge, I’m excited to see beautiful clothes and sets decorated like a winter wonderland. Mixing in a feel-good romance plotline with the competitive fun of a design contest will surely get you inspired to deck your own halls this season!
#5 Mystic Christmas
Premiering Saturday, October 28
Another intriguing movie title is Mystic Christmas, which stars Jessy Schram as a rehab center worker who reconnects with her high school crush over the holidays. With a seaside New England setting, an aquarium backdrop, and supporting cast including Broadway actress Patti Murin, this promises engaging characters and plenty of seasonal spirit. And who doesn’t love a sweet second-chance-at-love story?
#6 Joyeux Noel
Premiering Sunday, October 29
For the Francophiles out there, Joyeux Noel may be right up your alley. When a magical Christmas painting sends a copy editor to France, she’s joined by a reporter as they try to uncover the artist behind the work. With filming on location in France, this movie should provide gorgeous backdrops of French architecture decorated for the holidays. And the search for the painter adds a sense of intrigue. It sounds like a Christmas tale with European charm.
#7 Flipping for Christmas
Premiering Friday, November 3
Starring Ashley Newbrough as a realtor who reluctantly helps her sister renovate a home over the holidays, this movie promises hijinks with the renovation project as well as a budding romance. With so many of us becoming amateur renovators while stuck at home over the past few years, this story could be quite relatable. And who doesn’t love a holiday makeover reveal? I’m sure as they work to flip the house, the characters will do a little self-discovery and grow closer in the process.
#8 Never Been Chris’d
Premiering Saturday, November 4
Last but certainly not least in my highlights is Never Been Chris’d, starring Janel Parrish and Tyler Hynes in a love triangle storyline as childhood friends reunite in their hometown at Christmas. As a Hallmark fan, I’m always excited to see Tyler Hynes cast in a leading role. His charm and charisma make him perfect as the object of affection in a holiday romance. Add in the clever title playing on the common name Chris, and this promises to be a delightful movie filled with awkward romantic moments and jokes. It sounds like the perfect film to get cozy with some candy canes or cookies by your side.
