Taking Screenshots Can Result in Account Termination on Prime Video

Specific scenes from movies and TV shows may become memorable to you hence you most likely want to preserve those moments with a screenshot. Just a few clicks will help you freeze a particular scene in your favorite show.

Unfortunately, it is not that easy to take a screenshot on the Amazon Prime Video app. If you attempt to do so, you will be blocked by a black screen.

So, why is Prime Video not allowing you to take a screenshot? This is due to DRM protections or Digital Rights Management protection. It prevents potential piracy or unauthorized copying of the content. While it may not be your intention to pirate content, the rule applies to all.

To further tell its users that they are serious, Amazon is also sending a message! Recently, some Prime Video users reported seeing a message from the streaming service which says:

“We reserve the right to remove this film from our platform at any time without prior notice. Some scenes may have been edited to reflect current sensibilities. Attempting to take screenshots can result in account termination.”

What does it mean? Once you try to take a screenshot, Amazon will automatically terminate your Prime Video account. However, some users are still skeptical as to the accuracy of the message. If indeed Amazon did place the termination warning, you may need to think twice before you begin to capture a screenshot.
