Ways to Fix Apple Music macOS App Keeps Stopping or Not Working Issue & Other Playback Problems on a Mac Computer

Check out some of the fixes below to resolve audio and playback errors on your Mac computer while playing songs on the Apple Music app or website. Follow each step one at a time and see if it fixes the issue or not.

Quit and Relaunch Apple Music

  • On your Mac, look for the Apple Music icon and right-click it.
  • You can also press the keys Cmd + Q at the same time.
  • Select Quit.
  • Now, relaunch Apple Music.

Authorize your Mac to Play Apple Music

  • Launch Apple Music.
  • Go to Account.
  • Select Authorizations.
  • Choose Authorize This Computer.
  • Enter your Apple account.

Sign Out and Sign In for your iCloud

  • Open System Preferences.
  • Select Apple ID.
  • Click Sign Out.
  • Now, try to sign in.
  • Relaunch Apple Music.

Sync your Apple Music Library

  • Open Apple Music on your Mac.
  • Navigate to Music.
  • Select Preferences.
  • Go to the General tab.
  • Check the box next to Sync Library.
  • Click OK.

Disable Sound Check on your Apple Music

  • On your Apple Music app, head over to Music.
  • Select Preferences.
  • Go to the Playback tab.
  • Uncheck the box next to Sound Check.
  • Click OK.

Update your macOS

  • Open the Apple menu on your Mac.
  • Select About this Mac.
  • Choose Software Update.
  • Install if there are available updates.
