You will see the message, “Cannot play title. Please try again later.” Often, it is associated with different error codes like 40104, 30103, CM:12646;, 5009, 10018, 30104, -1004, -11853, or -1202.

There can be various reasons why Netflix cannot play the TV show or movie title you want to stream. Sometimes, there is an issue with your WiFi Internet network or mobile data connectivity. At times, there are problems with the expired cache information on your streaming device. The cannot play video title error usually occurs when you stream Netflix on your Apple devices such as an Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, and Mac computers.

While there are different causes that trigger the cannot play title error on Netflix, there are also several ways to troubleshoot the issue. You can follow each troubleshooting solution below one at a time and check if it resolves and fixes the streaming problem. If not, move on to the next method or workaround.

Restart your Device

The first thing you need to do is to reboot your streaming device. Exit the Netflix app and close all running apps in the background. Power off your device. Wait for at least 3 minutes. Turn on your device and relaunch Netflix.

Try to Power Cycle your Devices

If it is an issue with your network connection, you can power cycle your devices. Rather than reboot your streaming device, you can also refresh your router and modem. Start first by turning off your Apple device. Unplug your router and modem. Wait for at least 3 minutes before plugging them back in and connecting to the Internet. Restart your device.

You can also improve your network signal by elevating your router or moving your streaming device closer to it. Do a speed test and check if you have a reliable Internet connection. If not, contact your Internet Service Provider.

Re-download the Title on your Netflix App

This method applies to downloaded titles on Netflix. If you cannot play a downloaded title, you can remove it and download it again.

  • Navigate to the Downloads section of Netflix.
  • Tap the Edit button next to the problematic title.
  • Tap the X icon to delete it.
  • Now, download it again.

Reinstall the Netflix App on your Streaming

  • First, you have to delete or remove the Netflix app.
  • Tap and hold the Netflix app.
  • Select Remove App.
  • Choose the Delete App.
  • Select Delete.
  • Now, launch the App Store and search for Netflix.
  • Reinstall the app.
