Plex is paving a new way for changes – but this means more improvement and a boost on personal streaming experience. That’s right! Plex will be implementing updates starting on April 29, 2025. But, let’s look at the best parts first.
There will no longer be any mobile unlock fee for Android and iOS mobile apps. Prior to the changes, users will need to pay a Plex Pass or a one-time activation fee to eliminate the one-minute playback limitation. Now, there is no need to pay when you play on your new mobile apps.
New Pricing Structure for Plex Pass Subscriptions

However, effective on April 29, 2025, Plex will also have a new pricing for its Plex Pass subscriptions. It’s about time considering their hold up for 10 years. A price increase will be implemented to new and existing subscriptions, except those who are existing Lifetime Plex Pass holders. Monthly rate will be at $6.99 while yearly is at $69.99. Those who want to subscribe to a Lifetime Pass will have to shell out $249.99.
But, don’t despair! You still have more than a month to think about the prices, and perhaps subscribe to the Lifetime Plex Pass before the price increase. If you do so before April 29th, you can still enjoy the current price of $119.99.
Other Updates to the Plex Pass Service

With the changes in prices also comes changes in their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Plex has a roadmap of app improvements to streamline viewing experience and offer its users the best.
Plex will also integrate two ways of remote playback for personal media. First is the remote playback with a Plex Pass. No need for additional charges. Users will Plex Pass can stream remotely and enjoy Skip Credits and Skip Intro. Second is the remote playback with Remote Watch Pass subscription. It enables remote streaming on media even if you don’t have your own server or access a server without a Plex Pass. It is cheaper for remote access and costs only $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.Â
So much will happen on Plex but rest assured that these are made for you!
