Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Studio, Echo Show, and other Amazon home assistant devices have Amazon Music as the default service for music playback. But, you can change it and add any music streaming service providers you want, including some of the top apps on the market today such as Spotify and Pandora.
How to Connect or Set Other Streaming Apps & Change Amazon Music as the Default Music Player on Amazon Echo Devices
To set a different default music player on your Amazon Echo device, you need to access the Amazon Alexa app. It is more convenient than you may expect since other services are available on the app itself. You need to connect or link them first before you can set the service as default provider. No longer will you need to use a Bluetooth connection to stream from your preferred music service app.
Linking Other Music Streaming Services to Amazon Echo Device
- First, launch the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device. Make sure you use the same Amazon account with your Amazon Echo device.
- Navigate to the Play tab.
- Select Manage your services.
- Tap Link new service.
- Choose your preferred music streaming service.
- Tap Enable to use.
- Now, sign in to your account on the music service.
- Select Close.
- If you want to proceed and set the newly linked service as default, select Visit music settings.
- Tap the Change button and select your preferred service.
Amazon allows you to link services like Apple Music, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Sirius XM, Spotify, Tidal, and TuneIn Radio. Unfortunately, YouTube Music is not available on the Amazon Alexa app.
