More interaction and engagement is one of the primary reasons why Spotify now adds comment system support on a podcast episode. Yes, listeners can now post their comments on podcasts if they have something to say.
Spotify wants to allow their podcasters and creators to build more communities and create a better and interactive environment for their listeners. At the same time, the comment feature allows listeners to have a deeper engagement, which will encourage them to stick to the show.

However, creators are still in control. While listeners can leave comments on any podcast episode, creators have the option to enable or disable the comments per episode. They can even approve the comments or block the commenters.
According to Spotify, once the podcast hosts allow the comment feature on the episode, creators will get alerts for new comments and can respond to each comment. They can also view audience analytics through the Spotify for Podcasters app.

Users can also enable push notifications with the comments on the podcast so they can be notified even when they are not currently streaming the episode.
Spotify is rolling out the comment support slowly on podcasts who opted to have the comments on their episodes. Soon, it will be available to all Spotify users.
