How to Fix Discovery Plus App Keeps Pausing, Crashing or Stopping

Check Your Internet Connection

It may be an issue with your network connection. For you to stream on Discovery+, you will need to have at least 2.5 Mbps or 6.5 Mbps for live sports. Perform a speed test on your Internet and check if it has a strong connection to stream shows on Discovery Plus.

Sign Out and Sign Back In of the Discovery+ App

You may want to sign out of all devices first and then sign back in on your Discovery+ app.

On your Discovery Plus app, go to your Account Settings. Select Manage Devices and then, remove the devices to sign out. Now, try signing back in.

Power Cycle Your Devices

First, exit the Discovery+ app and then turn off the device you are using for streaming. Unplug your router and modem. Wait for at least 1 minute. It will help refresh your connection. Plug back in your router and modem. Now, turn on your streaming device and relaunch the Discovery Plus app.

Clear the Discovery Plus App Cache on your Device

Android

  • Launch the Settings on your Android device.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Select Installed Applications.
  • Look for Discovery Plus.
  • Tap Clear Cache.

iPhone/iPad

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Discovery+.
  • Tap Clear Cache.

Web Browser

  • Navigate to Preferences.
  • Go to Privacy and Security.
  • Select Clear Browsing Data.
  • Check the boxes nest to cache, cookies, browsing history.
  • Select Delete or Clear Cache.

Roku

  • Navigate to the Main Screen.
  • Select Home.
  • On your remote, follow the sequence:
  • Press the Home button five times.
  • Press the Up button once.
  • Press the Rewind button twice.
  • Press the Fast Forward button twice.

Amazon Fire TV

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Apps & Notifications.
  • Choose Manage All Applications.
  • Click Discovery Plus.
  • Go to Storage.
  • Click Clear Data.
  • Then, click Clear Cache.

Try Streaming Using a Different Device

If you are streaming on your smart TV, try to watch your shows on your web browser. Sometimes, it may work on other devices even if you see an error.

Reinstall Discovery Plus App

First, uninstall the Discovery Plus app on the device you are using to stream on the platform. And then, try to reinstall it and check if the Discovery app still freezes, pauses, crashes, or stops.

    pausing started while using Microsoft Edge to watch Discovery Plus. I switched to Google Chrome and the pausing stopped. No buffering or intermittent pausing now.
