How to Reset your Philips Smart TV to Factory Settings

You are binge-watching your favorite TV series or streaming your classic movies, then suddenly, your smart TV crashes. It happens to a lot of people. One of the reasons why your smart TV encounters issues and breaks is when it is working too much. If this scenario occurs to you, one of the most effective troubleshooting techniques you can do is perform a hard reset.

Many people experience problems with their Philips smart TV. Performing a hard or factory reset on your device will resolve these issues when simple troubleshooting solutions do not work. For instance, your Philips smart TV continues to experience the error after you reboot the device or update the software system version.

Resetting your smart TV to default factory settings is helpful, but it must not always be your first recourse when things go wrong with your device. Doing a hard reset will delete all your settings and revert them to their factory defaults. All your apps, login, WiFi, customized settings, and more will be removed. If you do not want it to happen, you can try other ways first.

There is a difference between a soft reset and a hard reset. A soft reset means that you turn off your Philips smart TV and reboot it. You can fix several problems using a soft reset. But, if the errors persist, you can do a hard reset. It will remove all your settings and bring it back to its mint factory condition.

You can do a factory reset if your Philips smart TV continues to crash, slow down, freezes, or simply does not work as intended. This method uses your TV remote control. Check out the steps below to see how you can do it.

  • On your TV remote, press the Home button.
  • Go to Setup.
  • Navigate to the TV Settings.
  • Choose Factory Settings.
  • If asked to enter a PIN code, you can type in 8888 as default.
  • Select Reset.
  • Press OK.

Here is another method if your Philips Smart TV does not follow the same reset setting above.

  • On your remote, press the Menu button.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Press the Right button twice.
  • Select Reset AV Settings.
  • Choose Start Now.
  • Press OK.
  • Press the Menu button to exit.
