The offline viewing feature allows you to continue watching your favorite TV shows or stream movies without an active WiFi Internet connection. Let’s say you are traveling on the road or going to a remote place for a vacation. If a network signal is not available, you can still watch videos on HBO Max via your downloaded content. The tool is available on the HBO Max app for Android phones and tablets, iPhone or iPad devices, as well as Windows or Mac laptop computers.
Before you can enjoy downloading video content on HBO Max for offline watching, there are some things you need to know. The watch offline feature is limited and only available on the ad-free subscription plan, which is at $14.99 per month. Note that you need to have an Internet connection when you download any title. By default, HBO Max uses a WiFi connection for downloads. But, you can set it to your cellular data if you want.

How to Download Movies and TV Shows on HBO Max App for Offline Watching
Downloaded videos for offline use is available on every HBO Max profile on the iOS, Android, or computer app. If you have restricted content, it will not appear on the kids profiles. You can have up to five copies of the same video on all your profiles and devices.
- Connect to your WiFi.
- Launch the HBO Max app.
- Look for the video that you want to download.
- Tap the Download button.

How to Re-Download or Renew an HBO Max Download on your Mobile or Computer

- Go to any profile that you want.
- Navigate to the My Downloads section.
- Look for the expired title.
- Tap the exclamation sign next to it.
- Tap the Renew button to re-download the video.
Deleting a Downloaded Video on HBO Max
HBO Max allows a maximum of 30 downloads on all profiles and devices. That means you can only download up to 30 videos whether you have 5 profiles and 3 devices. If you want to add more content for offline viewing, you will need to clear or delete some of the titles to free up some space. Note that you can only use the internal storage of your device for downloads and not on an external SD card.
Here’s how to manage your downloaded content and go about clearing and deleting your HBO Max downloads on mobile or laptop.
- Head on to your Downloads section.
- Look for the video that you want to delete.
- Tap the Edit button.
- Tap the X button to remove the title.
- If you want to delete everything, tap Clear all to select all titles.
- Tap Done.
