How to Restart or Factory Reset your Roku Device, Streaming Stick or Media Player
There are several ways to restart your Roku device. You can perform a quick and easy reboot, or do a factory reset. The first thing you can do to fix an error on your Roku device is to perform a quick restart or sometimes called a soft reset.
But, if the issues continue to persist, you can do a factory reset. A factory reset will revert your Roku device to its factory default settings and erase customizations, accounts, and downloads on your device.
How to Do a Soft Reset or System Restart on Roku Player, Streaming Stick or TV
- Navigate to your Roku home screen.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Select Power.
- Choose System Restart.
- Select Restart to initiate a reboot on your device.
If your Roku device is frozen, you can use your Roku remote to perform a restart.
- First, press the Home button five times.
- Next, press the Up button once.
- Then, press the Rewind button twice.
- Lastly, press the Fast Forward button twice.
How to Perform a Factory Reset on your Roku Device
You can perform a factory reset process on a Roku device with or without your remote control.
- On your Roku remote, press the Home button.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select System.
- Go to Advanced System Settings.
- Choose Factory Reset.
- Select Factory Reset Everything.
- Now, follow the rest of the instructions.
Another option is to press the reset button built-in on your Roku device. Look at the back or the bottom of your Roku device and find the reset button. Press the reset button for at least 10 seconds until you see the indicator light blinking rapidly. This can prove helpful if your remote control is not working.
